In addition to her active work in photography, Barbara Nitke is a frequent lecturer on the topic of SM to both practitioners and the general public. She is a member of TES and the Lesbian Sex Mafia. Barbara has also been the featured artist and official photographer at many SM conventions across the country. In 2004 she received the Brother Leo Educator's Award from TES and in 2001 received the President's Choice Award for community service from the Pantheon of Leather.

Barbara
Nitke is a New York City artist who has been exploring issues of sexual
relationship through photography since 1982. She is the current president
of the Camera Club of New York (founded in 1884 by Alfred Stieglitz)
and is on the faculty of the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her
work has been the subject of one-woman exhibitions in New York, New
Orleans, Baltimore, Provincetown, Philadelphia and in Europe.
